Wissota Manufacturing was incorporated in 1946. Since that time we have built industrial bench grinders, precision spindle motors, and grinding wheels. Most of the best and biggest names in the industrial tool market had their bench grinding machines made for them by WISSOTA.

Our spindle motors have been used on precision carbide tool & saw sharpeners, knife sharpeners, and ultra-precision surface grinding machines. Currently we are using all of our expertise in these areas to manufacture ice skate sharpening machines exclusively. We have produced skate sharpeners also for over 60 years.

There is a Wissota skate sharpener in the museum collections of the Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul and the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.

WISSOTA makes its entire product from scratch. This includes our own electronic motors¹ . No other Skate Sharpener company has this capability. Our motors are totally enclosed, dust shielded, and use the finest quality electric motor grade sealed ball bearings. The shaft and flanges are precision tooled. We die cast our own rotors. Our system is direct drive and we do not use belts, pulleys, hubs, shaft collars or adapters. The machine table is a massive iron foundry casting and the skate holder consists of steel investment castings.

A dust collector hood is available as an accessory for easy hook up to a vacuum system.

The WISSOTA 911 Machine is a real workhorse, designed and built for commercial use. Each year we hear from customers who run thousands of pairs of skates through their WISSOTA machine

The 911 Skate Sharpener is portable and is an ideal machine for teams (travel or otherwise). For serious travel teams, a Deluxe Travel/Tournament case is also available.

Every year we ship many machines purchased for individual use by people looking to control their own quality, convenience and radius choice.

WISSOTA sharpeners come with a detailed Operators Manual which covers procedures and setups. Included is our "Understanding Skate Sharpening" pamphlet which covers the theory and principles. Both are written for the beginner and both are based specifically on the 911 Machine. An hour long DVD Instructional Video is also included.

ONLY WISSOTA is able to bring large economics of scale to the small volume business of Skate Sharpening machines. The 911 would easily be twice the price if this was our only product or if we did not make our own motors and grinding wheels.
